Nvidia may launch RTX 5080 Super or RTX 5080 Ti before end of 2025

Super or Ti, the result should remain the same.

While RTX 5060 will mark the final addition to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 50 Series for the foreseeable future, rumours continue to swirl about potential future SKUs. Recent whispers both reinforce and remix prior murmurs about potential a potential Super refresh, suggesting that Team Green could have another Ti model in mind instead.

Earlier this year, rumours of a GeForce RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Super emerged from several Chiphell forum posts. Now, Baidu user 夜羽真白 claims suggests the former of the two could launch as GeForce RTX 5080 Ti before the end of the year.

Details on a potential GeForce RTX 5080 Super/Ti are thin on the ground, but 夜羽真白 states that it will almost certainly boast 24GB of VRAM. This would mark a 50% improvement over the 16GB buffer that RTX 5080 currently offers.

Of course, one should expect Nvidia to offer more than a larger VRAM capacity with a potential refresh. While RTX 5080 uses the full power of GB203, a cutdown GB202 seems ripe for a prospective RTX 5080 Super/Ti and would plug the gap between RTX 5090.

Further cementing this idea that RTX 5080 Super/Ti would use GB202 is Nvidia’s apparent intention to replace existing 5090D with this design. As a reminder, this is a graphics card that largely mirrors RTX 5090 albeit with certain cutbacks to AI performance to circumvent bans set by the United States government.

Until we get an official word from Nvidia, you should take all the above with a pinch of salt. As much as there’s certainly room for GeForce RTX 5080 Super/Ti, in terms of silicon and price, there’s curiously little reason for Nvidia to commit to such a refresh.

There’s little chance of AMD preparing a graphics card more powerful than Radeon RX 9070 XT for the foreseeable future. This allows Nvidia to occupy the $1,000+ end of the market without challengers, removing most incentive to improve existing RTX 5080 designs.
