Lottery winners only – MSI X870E Godlike X and Max boards spotted in EEC filings

Boards for those who browse online stores by 'most expensive' first.

MSI is seemingly preparing even higher-end motherboards for AM5 users. Previously limited to Intel’s platforms, the Godlike Max and Godlike X could soon join AMD, powered by the flagship X870E chipset. While we don’t have any concrete details about their specs, we expect them to be at least as garnished as the existing MEG X870E Godlike. As their name indicate, these will slot in the brand’s ultra high-end, offering the most complete feature set and hardware support.

Based on the specs of the MEG X870E Godlike, these X and Max variants should at least offer dual PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, a 24+2+1 110A VRM design for CPU power, support for up to 256GB of DDR5 memory or speeds above 9,000MT/s, plus enough M.2 slots to make a NAS jealous. Likewise, expect the latest and fastest connectivity, from 10GbE LAN and Wi-Fi 7 to USB 4 40Gb/s. To put it simply, if the feature exists in another MSI motherboard, chances are you will find it here.

MSI is also planning multiple other high and mid-range boards, including three PZ (Project Zero) models with back-side connectors. The full list goes as follows:

  • MEG X870E GODLIKE X EDITION
  • MEG X870E GODLIKE MAX

As usual, these remain mere name registrations, meaning that MSI could end up abandoning the idea. While we hope not, we saw many products being listed on the EEC platform that never launched.

While it’s too soon to talk about pricing, you’d better prepare your wallet for a spicy tally. Considering the MEG X870E Godlike’s £1,199 price tag, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Godlike X and Max demanding £1,400 or more.
