Nvidia and AMD have a rival, as Chinese GPU maker Lisuan reveals release date and AAA game support

Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, and Red Dead Redemption II all run on the Lisuan Extreme LX 7G106, with performance looking set to compete with RTX 4060.

Nvidia and AMD could have a new rival in the graphics card space, as Chinese manufacturer Lisuan claims its Extreme LX 7G106 GPU can run well-known AAA games, including Cyberpunk 2077. The company has also announced 18 June as the release date for its GPU.

Lisuan is a newcomer to the GPU world, and it’s quickly gained interest thanks to its big ambitions and the lack of diversity in this segment. With Intel Arc GPUs only commanding 1% market share, the gaming GPU industry can be described as a duopoly between Nvidia and AMD. Well, if we can call a 94% / 5% split a duopoly. Lisuan aims to disrupt the market by offering an alternative that supports modern features, starting small and improving as it gains experience and knowledge.

Lisuan describes the LX 7G106 as capable of running over 100 games, including modern AAA titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, and Red Dead Redemption II. The company also advertises support for AI models, such as Qwen3, DeepSeek, and OpenClaw, as well as CAD/3D modelling software, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Blender, and Maya. Overall, Lisuan claims support for more than 50 professional applications, giving its customers a taste of its technology’s potential.

This is mainly possible thanks to the GPU’s compatibility with current APIs, such as DirectX 12, Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL 4.6, and OpenCL 3.0. These matter a lot, as they provide a standardised interface, so applications can send commands to the GPU without needing to know its exact hardware design. It looks as though it could be a strong debut for a graphics architecture claimed to be fully made in-house, although some wonder if a portion of its software/IP lineage traces back to S3/VIA.

Another important factor is compatibility with existing platforms, where Lisuan indicates that the LX 7G106 works with Intel, AMD, Zhongke Haiguang, and Feiteng CPUs, as well as Microsoft’s Windows operating system. This would allow it to act as a drop-in replacement on most consumer machines, potentially encouraging adoption.

As for specs, the list includes 12GB of GDDR6 memory, 192 texture units, 96 ROPs, and 24 TFLOPs of FP32 throughput. It’s still too early to speak about real-world performance, but early benchmarks suggest performance roughly in the range of Nvidia’s RTX 4060. Though not groundbreaking, this would be sufficient to run all the latest games smoothly at 1920×1080, although not always at high settings. Lisuan didn’t mention any upscaling support or features, but since the GPU supports Int8 instructions, modders should be able to implement FSR 4 or Intel XeSS.

Lisuan has also revealed its 7G105 GPU, this time targeting servers. Models include the LX Ultra with 12GB of GDDR6, LX Pro with 24GB of GDDR6, and LX Max with 24GB of ECC GDDR6 memory.

The Extreme LX 7G106 graphics cards will be available through the retail platform JD.com, meaning it would be limited to the Chinese market, at least initially. Hopefully, the price will be competitive and reflects its performance.
