Philips launches a new 4K QD-OLED monitor for an enticingly modest price

Trimming back refresh rate to 165Hz, the Evnia 32M2N6901A aims to make 4K QD-OLED monitors more affordable while still remaining relatively speedy.

Philips has announced the Evnia 32M2N6901A, a 32in QD-OLED monitor that promises 4K resolution at a relatively low price for those willing to settle for a slower refresh rate. Launching at £649, this 165Hz display could be a great value pick for gamers in search of a large, sharp, and still relatively speedy screen.

That 165Hz refresh rate is still plenty fast to deliver great motion clarity in games, providing your system is capable of hitting such a high frame rate target in tandem with the 4K resolution. The Evnia 32M2N6901A’s VESA ClearMR 9000 certification cements its ability to deliver a smooth output, but does fall middle of the pack relative to other OLEDs clear motion ratio.

Regardless, these credentials should give the Evnia 32M2N6901A a clear edge over LCDs running at the same refresh rate, particularly thanks to its panel’s near-instant pixel response times. Looking at the monitor in the wider context of alternatives, 4K QD-OLEDs top out at 240Hz for the moment, so dropping down to 165Hz isn’t as big a drop as you might think.

What the Evnia 32M2N6901A lacks in refresh rate, Philips aims to more than make up for via deep and accurate colour reproduction. More specifically, the brand advertises the monitor as sporting a true 10-bit panel covering 148% of the sRGB gamut, 125% of NTSC, 99% of DCI-P3, and 97.5% of Adobe RGB. The monitor also comes factory calibrated to a DeltaE <1 in sRGB, meaning the display will output SDR content with fantastic accuracy out of the box.

Combine this with QD-OLED’s per-pixel local dimming, and you can expect a great HDR experience, with deep blacks and accurate highlights. The Evnia 32M2N6901A sports VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, but Philips also supplies a Peak 1,000nits mode for those that would prefer to prioritise brighter highlights over broad screen brightness.

To ensure these qualities remain stable throughout the years, Philips has equipped the Evnia 32M2N6901A with an integrated graphene shield to keep the panel cool. The brand claims that this should keep the colours of your game pixel-perfect. All of this rests inside the brand’s signature white frame, protected by an anti-reflection 2H film.

To extend the experience beyond the screen, Philips also bundles its AI-enhanced Ambiglow feature, which projects synchronised RGB lighting from the monitor’s back, based on colours present on-screen. It can enhance the atmosphere to your experience, especially when gaming or watching content. That said, if you like something static to suit your setup, that option is available too.

On the connectivity side, the Evnia 32M2N6901A comes equipped with two HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB Type-C with video and 90W power delivery, plus a USB hub comprised of two USB Type-A and one USB Type-C (15W) ports. A KVM switch is also available for those wanting to hook two PCs into this monitor. Lastly, in terms of ergonomics, you get an adjustable stand offering 130mm height, from -5° to 20° tilt, and 25° swivel control.

The Evnia 32M2N6901A will be available this August at £649.99 MSRP. Philips hasn’t indicated a warranty period in its press release, but we’d expect this monitor to follow previous releases with three-years of coverage including burn-in.
