Arctic switches up fan placement and sizes on its upcoming Freezer 61 CPU cooler

Promising strong cooling with enhanced RAM compatibility, the Freezer 61 is shaping up to be a competent and welcomingly affordable cooler.

Arctic has showcased a new CPU at Computex 2026, the Freezer 61, featuring a dual reverse fan configuration. Through this design, the brand aims to remove RAM compatibility concerns, all while supporting current and upcoming desktop CPU sockets.

The Arctic Freezer 61 is all about hardware compatibility and premium cooling performance. It comes equipped with two fans, one P14 Pro Reverse on the rear (VRM side) and one P12 Pro Reverse sandwiched between its dual fin stacks. The latter connect to the base plate via six heat pipes, offering plenty of cooling performance.

By relocating the front fan to the back, the Freezer 61 allows full clearance for tall RAM sticks, with no consequences to performance. Arctic is confident this design still delivers maximum airflow and static pressure, with enough grunt to handle a 300W CPU.

The Freezer 61 will be available in at least three variants: a stealthy all-black model with colour-matched heatpipes, alongside two RGB versions with P12 Pro RGB fans. However, the two RGB versions will arrive with front facing blowers, which makes sense as you otherwise wouldn’t be able to see them.

Fans mount to the cooler via standard metal clips, rather than a rail system. This allows the Freezer 61 to remain compatible with a wider range of blowers, allowing you to swap in alternate models providing they’re of similar thickeness.

In terms of platform compatability, all Freezer 61 coolers will support Intel LGA1954, LGA1851 and LGA1700 sockets, as well as AMD AM5 and AM4. You can expect to pay €49 for the base model, rising to €59 for the RGB variants.

Arctic aims to have the Freezer 61 ready for sale sometime in Q3 2026. The company even plans to bundle a small screwdriver to aid installation as a welcome bonus.
