G.Skill has announced its new Trident Z5 Royal NeoX DDR5 kits for users of AMD desktop CPUs, rocking the brand’s distinct and flashy heatsinks, while also supporting EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL) tech. The modules boast low sub-timings, offering interested users a one-click upgrade to boost their system performance, blending speed with bling.
The Trident Z5 Royal NeoX lineup includes four variants so far, with a choice between CL36-36-36-76, CL30-38-38-32, CL28-36-36-32, and CL26-36-36-32 timings. These latency figures are complemented by tighter secondary and tertiary timings that can be easily enabled using the ULL built-in memory profile.
Note, however, that in order to access these AMD EXPO ULL profiles, you will need a compatible CPU, motherboard, and BIOS. Thankfully, you don’t need fancy motherboards to unlock EXPO ULL support, so this shouldn’t be an issue, as long as your BIOS is up to date. That said, do check your motherboard support page before jumping the gun, as these kits tend to cost more than their regular counterparts, and you wouldn’t want to fork out extra money needlessly.
Latency aside, all kits run at the 6,000MT/s sweet spot, while maintaining a 1:1 memory-to-controller speed ratio. Likewise, all variants are only available in 32GB (2x16GB) capacity, which is enough for most users, including gamers.
Early gaming benchmarks showed that EXPO ULL boosts gaming performance by around 4%. That said, you may not see any benefit if you pair these kits with a chip using 3D V-Cache, such as the new AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D, as they tend to be less sensitive to memory configurations than non-X3D chips, thanks to all that extra cache.
Beyond raw performance, the Trident Z5 Royal NeoX series is also a showpiece designed to elevate your setup’s aesthetics. Its crystalline light bar and shiny heatsink finish, available in Gold and Silver, aim to provide a luxurious touch without impacting performance or compatibility. To put it simply, the Trident Z5 Royal NeoX series is fairly similar to the regular Royal Neo series, but this time featuring AMD EXPO ULL support.
G.Skill hasn’t revealed pricing or availability for this new lineup, only indicating that it will be available worldwide in phases. Considering that similar G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo DDR5-6000 32GB CL26 kits demand at least $899 / £1,213, we don’t expect these modules to be any cheaper.
