Noctua just teased a device that raises an alarm if your GPU power connector is going to melt

It looks as though the Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro II is about to launch, giving you a quiet, actively-cooled monitor for your GPU power connection.

Noctua has just teased a forthcoming product on its social media channels, which looks very much like a Noctua Edition of Thermal Grizzly’s WireView Pro II monitor for 12V2x6 connectors. We first saw a prototype of this gizmo at Computex, but it looks as though Noctua is now building up for a launch.

“Some things are worth watching closely,” says the text of Noctua’s post. A part of a product is then displayed in an image, clearly showing the Noctua logo and a milled fan vent. In the shadowed area, you can also see “View Pro II” in blurry text at the top.

Thermal Grizzly’s WireView Pro II is a little box that sits hooks up to the 12V-2×6 cable from your PSU, and plugs straight into your GPU’s power socket. It’s designed to monitor the power draw of your graphics card, with its screen giving you a real-time readout of the current on each individual pin wire of your 16-pin cable, via its 320×170 IPS screen.

The idea is that it can pick up any outlandish load distribution problems early on, with it giving you audio and visual warnings, so you can hopefully avoid any problems that result in melting your graphics card. You’ll want to heed those warnings, though, as one Reddit user recently found when a Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro melted while attached to a GeForce RTX 5090 card, after ignoring the alarms.

The WireView Pro II also contains a cooling fan to keep all the connections cool when your GPU is working hard, and this is where Noctua is helping out.

Noctua’s prototype at Computex used a frameless NF-A4x10 fan, along with the company’s own design of fan grille. Noctua said it offered “significantly quieter operation compared to the standard version.” Like the standard WireView Pro II’s fan, it operates semi-passively, being silent when idle, and then spinning up under load – Noctua says it offers “powerful cooling at full load conditions.”

It looks as though the WireView Pro II Noctua Edition is just about ready for launch, so watch this space. In the meantime, check out what’s going on with the Noctua thermosiphon project.
