NZXT has announced the S5 RGB and S5 RGB Deluxe, two ATX mid-tower cases that mark the return of the brand’s entry-tier S-series chassis. These newcomers target users looking for an affordable PC case that still looks and feels well-made, while showing off all your glorious hardware.
The S5 RGB and S5 RGB Deluxe are based on the same chassis/frame. Both cases are built with the same materials, offer the same hardware clearances, and come in identical colours. The main difference resides in their fan configurations; more on that later. Available in black or white, the S5 RGB series features two glass side panels – on the front and side – offering a wide view of your hardware and RGB lighting.
All variants come equipped with a single-frame, reverse-blade RGB fan setup on the side, with air flowing through a filtered intake, while shining RGB light through the glass. This single-frame/unibody fan setup comprises three 120mm spinners, reducing cable clutter and simplifying installation at the same time.
More removable PVC mesh filters can be found covering other intakes at the top and bottom. What’s more, all the case’s panels are toolless, making installation and maintenance faster and easier.
Size-wise, the S5 RGB and S5 RGB Deluxe both measure 482 x 210 x 423mm, with a volume of around 42.8L. This allows them to house up to ATX motherboards, 415mm graphics cards, 162mm CPU coolers, and 200mm PSUs. To cool all your gear NZXT has left room for up to ten 120mm fan mounts, compatible with up to 360mm radiators in the top, and 120mm rad in the rear.
Meanwhile, the bottom fan mount is designed to push fresh air directly towards your graphics card. The first two fans sit flat, but there’s a third angled fan mount on the right, enabling you to point its airflow directly towards your GPU.
As for the difference between the S5 RGB and S5 RGB Deluxe, the latter ships with two additional pre-installed RGB fans on top of the single-frame 360mm fan, giving you a total equivalent of five 120mm fans. In other words, the S5 RGB Deluxe is for those who want more cooling out of the box, including that 120mm RGB reverse fan in the angled bottom mount, and a 120mm RGB fan at the rear. Note that all fans use 4-pin PWM connectors, for power and 5V ARGB plugs for lighting.
Other than this, all models share the same front I/O panel setup, which provides one USB-C port, two USB-A sockets, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The S5 RGB case series is available today from authorised retailers for a surprisingly low price of £49.90 / €59.90 / $49.99 for the standard version, and £59.90 / €69.90 / $59.99 for the Deluxe flavour, all backed by a two-year warranty. Considering the package on offer, either one looks like a great pick for these prices.
