If you were looking for compact desktop machines that offer good performance at a reasonable price, you may be in luck. A new crowdfunding campaign has opened its doors for a 4.75-litre PC measuring 200mm (L) x 110mm (W) x 217mm (H). Called Wee Beastie, this tiny machine should pack a punch for its size, powered by mid-range Intel and Nvidia mobile chips.
If you follow the small-form-factor scene, you probably came across some nice creations from passionate users. While some prefer handmade solutions, others make do with off-the-shelf parts to save time. Today’s design takes the latter a step further, offering you a complete pre-built system that takes 4.75L in volume. To get an idea of how small this is, it’s closer to the Xbox Series S’s 4.3L than the Xbox Series X’s 6.9L. Even the Fractal Design Terra is two times bigger.
Inside its fish-tank-style chassis we find an Nvidia RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X GPU in laptop MXM format alongside a choice between an Intel Core i7-13700H or Core Ultra 7 255H CPU. These are complemented by up to 128GB of DDR5 memory and 16TB of SSD storage. The project page claims that the Wee Beastie can handle AAA 4K gaming and 8K Video editing, in addition to AI workloads, thanks to its 466 AI TOPS. While the gaming claim seems a bit of a stretch, the video editing seems plausible, though will depend on the app and the number of filters/layers added to your work.
To cool everything, the Wee Beastie houses up to 13 fans, comprised of one 90mm, three 47mm, plus nine 50mm blowers. These, alongside their RGB lighting, can be controlled and customised via Corsair’s iCUE software, offering a multitude of effects and possible light combinations. All of this, fed via a built-in 400W PSU.
Despite its size, this machine comes with a full set of IO, including four USB Type-A, one USB 4, a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD card reader, 5GbE LAN, not to forget the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth connectivity. Most notably, you get support for up to six displays simultaneously, split between its three HDMI and three DisplayPort ports.
Currently, the Kickstarter campaign has exceeded its initial goal of $2,570, now sitting at $56,188, backed by 51 contributors. There are still 21 days left for those wanting to participate and grab one of these unique machines, but as usual, be careful since many crowdfunding projects have failed to deliver on their promises in the past. If you think the risk is worth it, then you can get the 13700H + RTX 4070 variant for $699 and the 255H + RTX 4070 one for $899. Production is set to debut later this year, with shipments departing sometime in February 2026.
