AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT matches RX 7700 XT in leaked test

The entry-level Radeon shapes to be a great deal if the MSRP holds up.

The upcoming AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT has been tested on 3DMark, shining a bright light on the future of budget pixel pushers. This mid-range GPU was able to surpass higher-tier last-gen graphics cards, and most importantly, its current competitor from Nvidia.

Radeon RX 9060 XT has been subject to multiple leaks lately, the latest of which showcased its compute performance in Geekbench. Today’s leak however comes a lot closer to real-world performance as it uses the well-known 3DMark Time Spy benchmark. The leak in question comes from uesato_hinata on Reddit, who got their hands on XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB alongside compatible drivers to make it work despite neither the GPU nor support being officially available.

According to these results, RX 9060 XT obtained 14,210 overall score in the non-RT Time Spy test when paired with an aging Ryzen 5 5600. Isolate the 17,069 graphics score for a more accurate reading of the GPU’s capabilities, however, and it paints an interesting picture against its rivals.

Based on this, RX 9060 XT ends up slightly ahead of RX 7700 XT and RX 6800, which deliver around 16,700 and 15,800 points, respectively. Against Nvidia, Radeon holds ground, beating its RX 5060 Ti 16GB counterpart, though remaining behind last-gen RTX 4070.

With that in mind, note that the Redditor tuned the card to +200MHz, -40mV Vcore, and +10% power limit, resulting in up to 3.46GHz at 199W. For reference, RX 9060 XT was set to 182W out of the box. That said, the memory was somewhat locked from overclocking as it couldn’t push beyond 2,538MHz without crashing.

RX 9060 XT features the Navi 44 GPU, packing 32 RDNA 4 Compute Units and 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 running on a 128-bit bus. Though the chip’s Infinity Cache may counteract the reduced bus width, this mid-range card remains a solution better suited for 1440p gaming.

AMD is planning to launch RX 9060 XT on June 5 at $299 for the 8GB variant and $349 for the 16GB. The latter is the best choice for those planning to play modern games with high graphics options. If AMD manages to maintain this MSRP then RX 9060 XT would undercut Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at $429. But, as usual, wait for reviews before making a decision, since these synthetic benchmarks don’t show a full and accurate picture.
