Graphics card prices are largely bonkers right now, but the cost of a Radeon RX 9070 GRE isn’t quite so maddening as you can now pick one up for just $529.99. That’s $20 below MSRP, and it also includes a copy of Onimusha: Way of the Sword (worth $69.99) at no extra charge, effectively bringing the GPU down to just $460 if you were thinking of buying this game anyway.

Radeon RX 9070 GRE
“Solid FHD and QHD performance, coming within 3-4% of RTX 5070.” Read our review.
Our initial assessment of the RX 9070 GRE saw potential but found this GPU lacking relative to other similarly priced options at the time. However, the market has dramatically changed since then, leading us to conclude that this pixel pusher is now the only mid-range one that makes sense to purchase, as Ben declared earlier this year.
For context, both the GeForce RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9070 now cost north of $700, well above their MSRPs and far more expensive than the RX 9070 GRE. However, the cheapest of the three actually provides far better value, with this graphics card’s frame rates only falling behind its more-expensive peers by 16% on average according to our tests.

As you can see from the chart above, the RX 9070 GRE offers the lion’s share of what the RX 9070 and RTX 5070 can provide in a game like Rainbow Six Siege. Spending ~40% more for a measly 13% boost in frame rates would certainly make for a poor-value purchase.
In terms of specifications, the RX 9070 GRE has a Navi 48 GPU at its core like the RX 9070 but with a few key changes. You’ll find fewer compute units, a narrower memory interface, as well as slightly slower memory on this graphics card, all of which create performance differences like the one you see above.

Importantly, the RX 9070 GRE arrives with 12GB of VRAM, enabling the graphics card to more comfortably run games at FHD and QHD with higher graphics settings, including ray tracing, relative to 8GB alternatives. Meanwhile, AMD FSR 4 upscaling is always on hand to improve frame rates with a minimal impact on image quality.
Check out our RX 9070 GRE review for a fuller picture of this graphics card’s capabilities, across more game benchmarks and some production workloads. The TL;DR, though, given the current market, is that the RX 9070 GRE is the only mid-range GPU we recommend seeking out right now.
