“Add speedy high-capacity SSD storage to your handheld gaming PC, like Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, or Lenovo Legion Go, and small form factor devices.”

Steam Deck OLED gives the handheld a new lease of life, with the top end giving you even more storage. Still, much like its rivals, it caps out at 1TB. If you want any more, you need to crack open that shell and upgrade it yourself.

You can’t just pop any old SSD in there, however. It has to be a compact M.2 2230 form factor. Although prices for these tiny drives have come down as more brands release models, they still hold a premium over their full-sized counterparts. That is unless you find yourself a good deal.

Corsair’s MP600 Core Mini is built for handhelds with double the storage at 2TB, and right now it’s at its best price ever. UK shoppers can grab the drive for just £161.99, chopping 29% off its usual price. Even the 1TB model has 16% off, inching close to its lowest price at £79.98.

Since Steam Deck has a PCIe 3.0 connector, it’ll easily max out its bandwidth. After all, MP600 Core Mini is a PCIe 4.0 x4 drive with up to 5,000MB/s sequential read speeds. At these prices, though, you’re not saving much by going with a previous generation drive. Of course, Corsair’s model is the ideal partner for an Asus ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go, which use the newer standard.

You’ll want to grab one before they’re gone, though. And my bet is that they won’t be around for long with the MSI Claw on the horizon.
