be quiet! just launched a range of unibody RGB fans with advanced software control

The new fan series focuses on style and ease of installation, while maintaining quiet operation.

German cooling specialist be quiet! has announced it Light Wings Pro IO unibody fan series, offering advanced lighting and cooling options. This lineup represents the brand’s high-end, software-controlled fan series, targeting those looking for a combination of style and performance.

Expanding be quiet!’s RGB-fan portfolio, the Light Wings Pro IO offers precise software control with the convenience of a single frame. The latter fuses three fans into a single frame to make installation and maintenance easier, while reducing cable clutter by controlling all fan motors and RGB LEDs through a single cable. Basically, it’s designed to give your rig a touch of flair while simplifying your life.

The Light Wings Pro IO series offers two main variants. The Light Wings Pro IO is available in 420 x 140 x 28mm (equivalent to three 140mm fans) or 360 x 120 x 28mm (equivalent to three 120mm fans) dimensions. Meanwhile, the Light Wings Pro IO Expansion is available in traditional 140mm or 120mm formats.

The latter are presented as complementary fans to the large unibody frame models, filling any remaining gaps in PC cases while maintaining the series’ aesthetics and noise profile. Speaking of which, be quiet! claims that the loudest models remain under 33.9dBA at 100% fan speed. All models are available in black or white, with the uniframe 420/360mm variants exclusively adding reverse-blade options.

The Light Wings Pro IO fans come equipped with up to 124 LEDs, split into four independently-controllable lighting zones, and would complement a cooler like the Light Loop IO LCD 360 well. Both the lighting effects and fan speed are configurable via the brand’s IO Center software, available both in app and browser form, including a fully customisable fan curve. Note that on the 420/360mm unibody models, each propeller/fan can be individually controlled, with the central one shipping at an offset speed out-of-the-box to reduce acoustic resonance.

Most notably, this series features a daisy-chainable USB-C connection, supporting up to six IO devices. This means the widely used triple-intake and single-exhaust case configuration can be controlled and powered via a single cable/hub. On the subject of hubs, note that only the 420mm and 360mm models come with one; the 140mm and 120mm expansions come as barebone units. This is important to keep in mind, since the 140mm and 120mm fans must be daisy-chained to a 420/360mm unibody fan or an individually purchased hub.

These prices apply to all variants, be it black or white, normal or reverse-blade. be quiet! will also offer additional IO Cable kits for $19.90 / €18.90.
