Gigabyte hits the bullseye with its Aero X16 laptops

A well-rounded machine that focuses on what is truly needed.

Gigabyte has unveiled its Aero X16 laptop series, marrying high-performance with refined portability. Whether you’re a creator juggling between complex video edits or a gamer enjoying the latest AAA titles, Aero X16 has you covered with its cutting-edge components and intelligent features.

At just 16.7mm thick and 1.9 kg in weight, this Copilot+ PC may seem less powerful, but opening its lid will present you with a versatile desktop replacement. Small enough to fit in your backpack without you noticing its presence, Aero X16 harnesses the latest AMD Ryzen AI 300 CPUs and Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. Gigabyte plans to launch two main variants, the first rocking a 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 alongside an 8GB mobile RTX 5070, with the second opting packing an eight-core Ryzen AI 7 350 plus an 8GB mobile RTX 5060. Both are fine, though the former is more enticing due to its faster CPU and GPU.

Aside from these, the only other difference is the display, where Gigabyte offers a WUXGA (1920×1200) 165Hz IPS panel on the RTX 5060 variant. That said, those who want a higher resolution can choose a WQXGA (2560×1600) 165Hz IPS panel with 92% screen-to-body ratio, regardless of the configuration. Furthermore, all models come equipped with a MUX chip, allowing the system to select which of the iGPU or discrete RTX GPU drives the display. This way, the system can switch between the efficient iGPU and powerful dGPU depending on the task, saving power when possible.

Memory and storage options are equally generous on both models, giving you up to 2x32GB of DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM memory and 4TB of NVMe SSD storage. Everything shares a generous 76Wh battery, capable of powering these laptops for multiple hours in eco mode, with the possibility to fill it back to 50% in just 30 minutes using the included 150W charger. Charging via USB Type-C is also possible.

As for the equally important temperature and noise, Gigabyte packs two 12v fans inside this thin chassis, complemented with a silent 0dB mode under low loads. Better yet, you can customise this behaviour by summoning the brand’s GiMate AI and explaining what you are planning to tackle next to adequately adapt the cooling and performance.

Needless to say, gaming will be especially great on such a machine. Aside from its ray tracing and upscaling capabilities, Aero X16 brings a large trackpad, travel-optimised keyboard switches, and Dolby Atmos–tuned speakers. Not to forget the 1080p Windows Hello-ready camera for those who like streaming content.

Lastly, for I/O you get two USB3.2 Gen 1, one USB 2.0, one USB 4 with DP Alt mode and power delivery 3.0, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, HDMI, plus a full-size 1GbE LAN port. WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are also present.

Aero X16 Series focuses on what most users really need instead of going balls to the wall with expensive and power-hungry parts, like Aorus Master 18. It blends enough performance with modern features, all in an easily transportable format.
