MSI celebrates its 40th anniversary with an eye-catching dragon-themed motherboard and laptop

MSI celebrates its fourth decade with multiple PC products and peripherals, embellished with dragon-related themes perfect for those who like something special.

MSI has unveiled a customised product lineup dedicated to its 40th anniversary, featuring fantastic art inspired by the never-setting dragon constellation (Draco) visible from mid-northern latitudes. The Dragon Edition Draco Epic series includes specific motherboards for Intel and AMD, a gaming laptop, a mouse, and a mouse pad.

MSI has shared a preview of this new lineup of enthusiast hardware on X, ahead of Computex 2026, among which we find the MEG X870E Ace Max Draco Epic Special Edition motherboard and its Intel-powered counterpart. This 40th anniversary version seems to carry the same specs and feature set as the regular model, differing mainly in art style. Instead of the black and gold design with clear lines, this special version opts for a more artistic dragon drawing on the chipset/M.2 heatsinks. The RGB-lit I/O cover is also slightly altered, now boasting a blue hue like the main M.2 cooler. The PCB seems to be painted black like the original, but with proper lighting, it looks right at home.

Spec-wise, if nothing changes, you can expect the same high-end X870E chipset supporting all AM5 AMD CPUs from Ryzen 7000 to Ryzen 9000 and beyond, PCIe 5.0 on the main x16 and M.2 slots, a hefty 18+2+1-phase power delivery system to feed the CPU, and a plentiful connectivity comprised of 10GbE LAN, Wi-Fi 7, plus USB 4. Likewise, there ought to be excellent overall build quality and hardware support, with the potential to run fast DDR5-9000 RAM if the CPU memory controller can handle it.

The same dragon-themed branding is found across this lineup, giving each piece a collector-oriented appearance, perfect for showcasing PC builds and hand-customised PC cases. Either motherboard would look amazing on a Skyrim- or Monster Hunter-themed case.

Beyond desktop motherboards, MSI’s 40th anniversary hardware extends to the laptop segment with the Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition Draco Epic. Once more, this laptop comes covered in an eye-catching art starring the same blue-ish dragon, who seemingly never misses a gym day. The art also contains references to star constellations, which extend around the touch pad. Hopefully, this art is painted directly on top of the frame and not some removable plastic film that would start to detach with time.

In terms of specs, the Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition Draco Epic will likely maintain identical hardware to the standard version, i.e. Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors and Nvidia RTX 50 mobile GPUs. MSI’s OverBoost Ultra technology should also be available, allowing you to push performance further by increasing the total power budget up to 270W. This set is complemented by a themed mouse, but this time focusing on the aforementioned Draco constellation.

MSI plans to fully reveal its 40th anniversary lineup at Computex 2026, starting June 2, so stay tuned.
