A listing for Nvidia’s unannounced GeForce RTX 5080 Super has recently broken cover after a prolonged period of quiet, with the rumoured GPU once again sporting a large power budget. According to this latest leak leak, we should prepare to run beefier power supplies in service of this graphics card refresh.
Rumours have long-pointed to the existence of an RTX 5080 Super, but this time it’s come from an established PSU maker. Joining the RTX 5070 Super and RTX 5070 Ti Super, the pixel pusher now sits as a selectable option in Seasonic’s PSU calculator.
This calculator describes the RTX 5080 Super as boasting a 415W TDP, lining up with prior rumours. This would mark a notable ~15% increase in wattage compared to the existing GeForce RTX 5080 with its 360W TDP. According to Seasonic, this would push power supply recommendations up from 750W to 800W, in a system paired with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Furthermore, the Seasonic listing expectedly describes the RTX 5080 Super as sporting a single 16-pin power connector. Here’s hoping we don’t endure another 12V-2×6 melting cable fiasco with this card, unlike our unfortunate GeForce RTX 5090.
This substantial uptick in power budget is likely to stem from the RTX 5080 Super’s alleged increase in VRAM capacity and speed, relative to the RTX 5080. More specifically, rumours state the card will boast 24GB of GDDR7 memory running at 32Gb/s, providing a 50% boost in capacity and 7% increase in speed.
Such an appearance is all the more notable as it follows rumours that Nvidia has reconsidered launching the GeForce RTX 50 Super series, despite the ongoing RAM crisis affecting consumer hardware supply. If we’re lucky, the refreshed graphics card and its siblings could materialise by the end of the year. However, CES 2027 seems a more likely date.
There’s no word on how much Nvidia plans to charge for these Super cards, but their higher VRAM capacities are likely to make them more expensive than existing stock. Until we learn more, check out our best GPU guide for recommendations on the top graphics cards you can put in your rig today.
