MSI has shared details about its next-gen graphics card cooling technology at Computex 2026, set to debut with the GeForce RTX 5090 32G Gaming Trio Next-Gen. This new cooler assembly uses diamond-infused materials to boost thermal transfer, alongside new fan and heat pipe designs.

The focus of this approach is on performance and efficiency, as the aesthetics of the Gaming Trio Next-Gen are practically identical to the original Gaming Trio. However, look closer, and you’ll notice that some materials are markedly different.
Starting from the outside, there’s a new ultra-thin metal fan that replaces plastic blowers. The difference between plastic and metal is subtle to the eye obvious to the touch. MSI claims the material swap provides higher structural rigidity and resistance to deformation at high rotation speeds, while the blades’ 0.8mm thickness increases the effective airflow area.

MSI is also making upgrades to its cooling module, employing the use of diamond-enhanced materials to improve heat transfer. Diamond has the highest thermal conductivity of any known natural material, five times that of copper, making it an ideal choice for managing graphics card temperatures.
You’ll find diamond in the baseplate, as part of a three-layer diamond-copper composite, sandwiched between four layers of whole copper. This approach creates a high-conductivity path from the GPU core to the heatsink, accelerating heat transfer, which, in theory, should help lower GPU temperatures.

The Gaming Trio Next-Gen will also feature diamond-composite thermal pads, which combine diamond particles with pads’ material to enhance heat transfer across memory modules. While they may bear passing resemblance to an Oreo filling, they are in fact -not- edible.
Lastly, MSI is deploying a new heat pipe design, featuring spiral grooves, which increase the internal contact surface area of the heat pipes, improving heat transfer efficiency and thus cooling performance.

MSI hasn’t told us how much more expensive these materials will make the upcoming Gaming Trio Next-Gen, relative to the existing graphics card. However, given we’re talking about diamond-infused materials here, I’d expect the new model to carry a slight premium.
