Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 discontinuation reports grow, as Micro Center lists cards as “not carried”

Purchasing a GeForce RTX 5090 from Micro Center is now practically impossible, as the retailer updates models with ominous "not carried" labels or removes listings entirely.

American PC hardware retailer Micro Center is updating many of its GeForce RTX 5090 listings with “not carried” labels, indicating that the company won’t be restocking the items. While not absolute proof that Nvidia is discontinuing this GPU, it’s hard not to connect the dots following recent rumours.

In case you missed it, leakers claim that Nvidia has quietly ceased RTX 5090 production. The firm is reportedly taking the GB202 GPU die that would go towards consumer graphics cards and using them to manufacture more of its higher-margin RTX Pro-series cards instead. With no new stock coming out of the foundry, board partners seemingly have nothing with which to replenish stores.

Microcenter now lists all 5090’s as “NOT CARRIED”. Does that mean the rumors that the 5090 was ending production was true

Over the past 24 hours, we’ve seen multiple emerging reports and screenshots of Reddit users sharing RTX 5090 Micro Center listings with the “not carried” label (as shown above). We’re unable to reproduce this ourselves, whether visiting the website from the UK or US via VPN, but it’s true that there is no purchasable or viewable online stock for RTX 5090 graphics cards.

We’ve also seen supporting claims on Reddit that another retailer, B&H, is informing customers that the RTX 5090 is now discontinued. However, the users making these comments haven’t shared screenshots of such communications, and the store’s listings describe models as temporarily out of stock.

Finding an RTX 5090 at a reasonable price has proven difficult in recent months, with cards based on this GPU skyrocketing past $5,090 in some cases. However, it seems finding new stock of this pixel pusher at all could become nigh on impossible if this shortage holds. We still don’t know for certain whether Nvidia has pulled its flagship from sale, but these signs certainly suggest this is the case.

We reached out to Nvidia when rumours first began to swirl about the RTX 5090’s alleged discontinuation and received no response. We’ve contacted the company again following these developments, as well as Micro Center plus B&H, and will update this piece if we hear back.
