Prepare your wallets and cross your fingers, as it seems Valve is preparing to launch the Steam Frame this week. It looks as though the company is deploying a reservation system for the VR headset, and that being the first to place an order won’t guarantee you the earliest possible delivery.
Following an earlier leak about the Steam Frame reservation system, regular Valve data miner SadlyItsBradley is back with a screenshot of the alleged scheme in action. The image shows what a confirmation email should look like once the Store page goes live, appearing to confirm that the list of orders will go through a randomisation process on September 17.

Importantly, if true, this indicates that Valve will launch its headset prior to that date. While the company has remained tight-lipped on this subject, the Internet is abuzz with whispers that the Steam Frame will make its debut as early as September 14, coinciding with an alleged VR games sale.
Given that Valve opened initial Steam Machine reservations opened on June 22, before randomising them on June 25, there’s precedent for this three day gap. How long those at the back of the queue will need to wait relative to those lucky enough to sit at the front will depend on the number of orders in play, as well as the speed at which Valve can get Steam Frames out the door.
At the end of July, Valve said it expects to fulfil existing orders within the Steam Machine reservation queue by the end of the year. If demand and stock prove similar for the Steam Frame, some hopeful adopters could be waiting until March 2027 to get their hands on a headset.
