Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Ti may arrive later this year, claims rumour

The full power of GB202 may finally arrive in a consumer graphics card according to a new rumour, but there's still every chance Nvidia could change its mind.

A new GeForce GPU may be in the works at Nvidia, potentially hitting store shelves before the end of 2026. Should a recent rumour hold true, this new graphics card will be a “very high-end” model, pointing towards a GeForce RTX 5090 Ti or Titan.

Tech site Overclocking.com claims to have heard whispers of a new Nvidia card in conversations at CES 2026, thinking its sources were referring to the long-rumoured GeForce RTX 50 Super series. However, following similar talks in Asia, it has apparently become clear that the model in question is actually more powerful than the current flagship GeForce RTX 5090.

The outlet is keen to stress that it only feels confident discussing the potential of a GeForce RTX 5090 Ti or Titan because of the prevalence of this rumour. Overclocking.com says it spoke to 5-6 different sources from different countries at different companies. Suffice to say, this isn’t a one-off mention.

As Overclocking.com highlights, there’s still every chance Nvidia could decide not to release this potential would-be GeForce RTX 5090 Ti. After all, the ongoing memory shortage has allegedly prompted a reprioritisation of GPU supply, leaning towards models with lower VRAM capacity, such as the GeForce RTX 5060. For now, though, the launch plans apparently centre around Q3 2026, timing in the ‘Back to School’ period.

While the GeForce RTX 5090 is extremely powerful, Nvidia has left itself headroom to release a GeForce RTX 5090 Ti. The GB202 GPU at the heart of the existing flagship is 22 SMs (Streaming Multiprocessors) short of the full-fat die. The Nvidia RTX 6000 Pro provides a glimpse of what GeForce RTX 5090 Ti performance could look like, potentially improving frame rates by up to 14%, but we’ll need to wait and see how clock speed and other specifications stack up.

On the off-chance that a GeForce RTX 5090 Ti does materialise, it will undoubtedly prove expensive. The price of a GeForce RTX 5090 has ballooned since launch, with the once-£1,939 card now easily running closer to ~£3,000, possibly due to the ending of Nvidia’s rumoured OPP Program. It wouldn’t surprise me if this new flagship’s price was closer to that of cards with ultra-high-end coolers, such as the MSI Lightning Z and Asus ROG Matrix.

Curious as the enthusiast inside me would be to see a GeForce RTX 5090 Ti, or even the return of a Titan, it’s difficult to feel truly excited about this potential flagship given current graphics card pricing. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling a touch of déjà vu, as this proposition sounds eerily similar to that of the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti; a small performance bump for a high price.

Perhaps we’ll learn more about the GeForce RTX 5090 Ti at Computex 2026, but that’s just wishful thinking for the moment. If Nvidia confirms anything about its potential best graphics card, expect to see it in our Google News Feed.
